Viera High School Planned

H.J. High Construction Company has been selected by the School Board of Brevard County to serve as Construction Manager for the new high school located in Viera, Florida. The high school is a Schenkel-Shultz prototype high school similar to Brevard County's Bayside High in Palm Bay, Florida. The project is designed for 2,323 student stations with a total square footage of 282,250. The school is one and two stories with load-bearing masonry construction. The school houses a gymnasium, media center, multi-purpose area with stage, full kitchen and cafeteria, band and choral rooms, drama rooms, technology and computer labs, CCTV studio, science labs, dentistry lab, locker rooms, weight and training rooms, gymnastics and dance studio, art rooms, child/day care facility, and administrative building.

The school also features an ice storage system for air conditioning. The exterior includes tennis courts, basketball courts, football field, track and field, soccer fields, practice baseball fields and a driver's ed course. The cafeteria and gymnasium will be hurricane enhanced for use as a shelter. Project start is late Fall 2004. Project completion is July of 2006 for school opening in August of 2006. H. J. High brings its experienced team from the just completed Quest Elementary in Viera, Florida. This will be H. J. High Construction Companys 7th school constructed for the School Board of Brevard County in the last 10 years.
